Unlike the battle-proven Dodge Cummins, the later-model GM Duramax machines, or even the fuel-loving but comfortable Fords, the Creator never intended for these unsightly vehicles to exist.  Their genesis took place in the minds of aesthetically-challenged, profit-driven human beings.  You see, once the art of delivering single trailers is mastered, many remain unconvinced that outfitting a tractor-trailer is a worthwhile calling.  So, some entrepreneurs turn to the Haul and Tow truck.  These trucks carry a trailer on their deck, yet have the capacity to pull a trailer on the ground at the same time.  They literally haul and tow trailers simultaneously.  Sounds great right?  Well, it is.  But there are some issues to consider.  Most Haul and Tow dispatches do not pay twice the single trailer rate.  Rates might range from 150 to 170 % of single unit rates.  While acquisition cost might be lower than many seem to think, maybe lower than the new diesel pick-up you’re considering!, setting one of these rigs up on your own is not advisable.  There are too many pitfalls and if you don’t have hands on experience building and/or operating this type of truck, turn to someone who does!  You will save yourself bundles of money and years of regret!
